Tuesday Sept 22 2026 TTOC Why did Rome Fall?

Today's task - using yesterday's work - create a full paragraph!!!! 

To keep your work - as we will use your draft upon my return (Oct 5/6) to complete a good copy - typed. 

 Today refer to your work from yesterday - Identify 4 Symptoms of a Declining Civilization. Reference - Why do you feel were the top four reasons Rome fell? 

Reminders: Your notes from yesteday!!! If you did not copy these do so now!!! In yellow :) 

For Paragraph Structure & Transition Words: 

  • Topic Sentences: A strong topic sentence introduces the main idea of the paragraph, clearly stating what the paragraph will be about.
  • Body Paragraph Transitions: Transitions help connect ideas, ensuring the writing flows logically. (2-3 examples).
  • Conclusion Transitions: Conclusion should restate the main point and tie everything together while guiding the reader to a final thought.
  • Transition words and phrases: IMPORTANT!! 
    • For Adding Information: furthermore, additionally, also
    • For Contrast: however, on the other hand, nevertheless
    • For Example: for instance, for example, such as
    • For Cause and Effect: therefore, as a result, consequently
    • For Summarizing: in conclusion, overall, to sum up
  • Task today!!! Write your FULL PARAGRAPH! Minimum 5 sentence on your 4 selected reasons Rome Fell. Use your work from yesterday including your why's! Don't forget to introduce your paragraph with proper intro statement E.g. "There are many reasons as to why Rome fell . . . ." 
  • Also USE in the middle of your pargraph - transitionary words - noted above.
  • Finally - end with a concluding statement at the end. E.g. In conclusion . . . .
  • KEEP YOUR DRAFT SAFE IN YOUR BINDER - we will edit and then use these to create our good typed copies after Oct 5.
